07.06.2012 - EVAG trainees explore Duisburg harbour
Three of our trainees in their 3rd year of training took part in a trip to Duisburg and Essen organised by their commercial college.

The Rhine harbour in Duisburg is Europe's largest inland harbour, and the only inland harbour worldwide to be featured in the list of the der 100 largest container harbours. In this light, this was a perfect opportunity for our forwarding and logistics services trainees to take a professional peek behind the scenes.

The program included visits to Deutschen Umschlaggesellschaft Straße Schiene (DUSS), Haeger und Schmidt, the Schenker customer service centre of DB Schenker AG and the Duisburger Intermodal Terminal (DIT). During the guided tours, our trainees experienced handling of various goods by road, rail and inland waterway vessels at first hand. The three-day trip was rounded off by the chance to visit the Krupp family's "Villa Hügel" in Essen and the world cultural heritage "Zeche Zollverein", a former colliery.
