29.09.14 - Three stumbling blocks in front of the EVAG building

On 29th September 2014, three stumbling blocks were installed by artist Gunter Demnig in the (side) entrance area of the EVAG building for the family of Dr. Julian Kretschmer.

Dr. Julian Kretschmer was a respected specialist in gastrointestinal and metabolic diseases and lived with his family in Emden. Dr. Julian Kretschmer lived with his family in the EVAG building at Schweckendiekplatz 1, and at the same time practiced in this building. In 1939, he and his wife emigrated to Palestine after being struck off, and due to the deteriorating political climate to join his daughter who had married and lived there.

EVAG supports the STOLPERSTEINE (stumbling block) WORKING GROUP EMDEN. Stumbling blocks are stones provided with a brass plate designed to attract the attention of pedestrians. They contain information on what happened to the person in question, and must never happen again.
